Liberty Mutual's Director of Supplier Diversity, Erika Gibson, was named a Top 25 Diversity Change Leader by DiversityPlus Magazine. Under her skilled leadership, Liberty Mutual says it has invested in more than 1,500 certified diverse suppliers and increased its annual spending on diverse suppliers by more than 300%. Leaders from other BCCCC member companies were also recognized for their supplier inclusion efforts, including Nike’s Clayton E. Judge III, head of diversity, equity, and inclusion; Chuck Stefanosky, supplier diversity director at Independence Blue Cross; Jaspreet Singh, vice president of corporate services at DTE Energy; and Nedra L. Dickson, managing director and global supplier inclusion and sustainability lead at Accenture.
In its latest #CareersatFlex story, Flex shares how Tetyana Buhera, Director, Global Account Management, took valuable transportation logistics skills to support and get aid to the people of Ukraine. Buhera is also a participant of Flex's SheLeads program, an accelerated development program for diverse female leaders. As part of SheLeads, Buhera worked on developing a sponsorship initiative for women with colleagues from Brazil, Singapore, India, and the U.S.

Earlier this month, 24 Hour Fitness teamed up with Headspace Health to offer complimentary Headspace subscriptions to new and existing club members. Headspace offers a range of tools to help people stress less, sleep better, get moving, and to find more focus and joy. The partnership launched on Monday, October 10, World Mental Health Day, as part of 24 Hour Fitness's holistic strategy to offer dynamic fitness and wellness experiences to club members.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) has released its 2021 environmental, social and governance report, themed “Sustainability By Design.” DFW’s commitment to sustainable environmental, social and governance practices remains steadfast as it looks for ways to deliver a world-class airport with outstanding facilities, innovative technology and improved infrastructure to support airport operations. Sustainability has proven to be good for business as DFW continues to build on its successful track record of reducing emissions, lowering operating costs, driving economic value and reducing social inequities.

JetBlue announced the return of its annual Swing for Good fundraising initiative and launched the complementary Bid for Good online auction. Since its first launch in 2008, the initiative has raised over $8 million through its golf classic and online auction. Proceeds raised this year will go to the World Central Kitchen and the JetBlue Foundation, which provides financial, in-kind, and mentorship support in the STEM field to empower women and traditionally underrepresented groups. 

Jamf recently released its inaugural Purpose & Impact Report, outlining the company's growth and efforts to lead with purpose in three areas of impact: environmental, social and governance. Jamf says it aims to create a space where [team members] can bring their whole selves to work, and in turn, help empower businesses by simplifying work. "Since 2002, Jamf’s purpose has been to empower people with technology. That’s why empowerment felt like the right theme to help introduce Jamf’s inaugural purpose and impact report," wrote Dean Hager, CEO at Jamf. "We are committed to empowering our employees, customers, and communities to be the best they can be."

PSEG volunteers teamed up with the nonprofit KABOOM! to build a new playground in Perth Amboy, which is projected to provide an inclusive and safe space of play for more than 1,000 children each year. PSEG has been volunteering with KABOOM! since 2013, constructing hundreds of play spaces across New Jersey in Bergen, Camden, Essex, Passaic and now Middlesex county. 

Cisco announced a new goal, stating that by fiscal year 2025, 50% of the plastic used in its products (by weight) will be made of recycled content.** Most plastic used in Cisco products is found in a few product categories: Cisco IP phones, Webex collaboration devices, access points, and Cisco Meraki products. As part of the company's journey to minimize the use of virgin plastic, Cisco teams are sourcing more recycled plastic parts and designing plastic out of its products. "Addressing plastic is just one part of our holistic circular design strategy, which is focused on designing products and packaging with reuse and resource efficiency in mind.," wrote the announcements co-authors, David Ashley, Senior Vice President, Product Operations at Cisco and Marco Croci, Senior Vice President, Engineering at Cisco.

Vertex reported the success of its 14th annual Global Day of Service in which it coordinated more than 90 virtual and in-person volunteer experiences. At 57%, the employee participation rate exceeded average corporate volunteer participation rates. Nearly 2,200 employees worldwide participated and accumulated more than 6,000 hours of service.

Sri Lanka recently launched its first ever vocational training kitchen at the Technical College in Kuliyapitiya in collaboration with USAID and the Yum! Foundation. Aimed at opening up new opportunities for youth in the country’s growing fast food sector, the program will be run according to a curriculum developed by USAID, teaching students about the equipment and processes important for a career in the fast-food industry. The initiative is funded by a $1.3 million grant from the Yum! Brands Foundation. The grant will help to fund the construction of 28 training centers, two of which will be dedicated to training students with disabilities. Overall, the program will serve 2,100 youth annually.
