Sustainability and Accessibility | 2022 Corporate Citizenship Conference

At the 2022 International Corporate Citizenship Conference, the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship is proud to deliver an event that realizes our environmental, social, and governance values—building a better world in which to do business AND to live. Each year, we are able to give attendees a conference that is as environmentally sustainable and inclusive as possible thanks to our Carbon Neutral, Zero Waste, Accessibility, and Inclusion Sponsors. Here’s a closer look at contributions from the organizations that make it all possible:

CARBON NEUTRAL SPONSOR: UPS

Thanks to the generous investment of UPS, the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship will mitigate the environmental impacts of our virtual event taking place in March and physical conference taking place in April. Through UPS’s generous investment, we have been able to offset the equivalent of more than 900,000 pounds of carbon dioxide, which is the greenhouse gas equivalent of more than 1 million miles per year driven by personal vehicles. Their sponsorship covers double the carbon impact of attendees’ travel, stay, and energy use at hotel facilities and rooms at the in-person event in Boston, as well as double the energy impact consumed by virtual attendees plugging in throughout the world.

ZERO WASTE SPONSOR: General Motors Company

General Motors’ zero-waste sponsorship has enabled the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship to ensure the International Corporate Citizenship Conference has as little environmental impact as possible. Thanks to their investment, leftover food at the in-person conference will be donated as deemed safe by the city of Boston, and all materials used will be recycled and/or recyclable. This year, more than 1.5 million gallons of water will be balanced, which covers double the impact of the entire in-person conference—including travel to and from—and the virtual event—including all attendees’ and staff’s water consumption.

ACCESSIBILITY SPONSOR: Toyota

To ensure attendees of all abilities have equitable access to the learning and networking opportunities offered at both the in-person and virtual International Corporate Citizenship Conference, Toyota has generously sponsored accessibility enhancements throughout the event. Thanks to Toyota’s sponsorship, attendees will have access to live captioning during the virtual portion of the conference and benefit from physical accessibility options at the Westin Copley in Boston. Toyota’s sponsorship is in line with a longstanding commitment to supporting mobility among its employees, customer base, and local communities.

INCLUSION SPONSOR: The TJX Companies

The TJX Companies’ sponsorship supports the conference’s annual Inclusion Fellowships, which are awarded to up to ten fellows representing a variety of the company’s nonprofit partners and associates. TJX Fellows receive registrations to attend the International Corporate Citizenship Conference in its entirety. In line with the company’s dedication to diversity and inclusion, TJX has opened up this opportunity for rising talent to take advantage of the event’s networking and learning, which has the potential to enrich and advance their careers.
