Dominion Energy profiled Christian Stewart, a member of the Chickahominy Tribe and a student at Virginia Tech, who shared about his summer internship experience with the company. As a part of his internship, Stewart played a role in shaping the Native Pathways program, including how it will benefit potential tribal employees in the future. From working to update job postings — gearing them toward a younger, more diverse talent pool — to conducting outreach to Native American tribes and organizations for the company’s annual Diversity Student Conference, Stewart says these efforts mean a lot. “Growing up in the Chickahominy Tribe, the importance of family was really emphasized and having each other’s backs,” reflects Stewart. “I can say that Dominion Energy is the same way.”

This Giving Tuesday, Nike highlighted how its employees support global nonprofit organizations year-round. Since beginning the tradition in 2017, Nike employees and the Nike Foundation raised more than $22 million for NPOs on Giving Tuesday. Nike also celebrated its partnership with the Notah Begay III (NB3) Foundation, a national, award-winning Native-led nonprofit that supports the health of Native American children. Nike will be collecting donations in stores through January 31, 2023, to support NB3’s community-driven and culturally-rooted programs promoting nutrition, physical activity, youth development, and cultural connections.

National Grid has entered its annual Season of Giving, starting off with a donation of $6 million to support its New York customers. The funds will go toward the company's Care & Share and Neighborhood Heating Fund, two energy bill assistance programs, and a new emergency food support program, Hearts Fighting Hunger. The program is the first of its kind, providing critical support to low-to-moderate income customers who belong to households experiencing financial hardship but just miss qualifying for the federally-funded Home Energy Assistance program. These households live on the edge of financial insecurity with an income above the federal poverty line but below the basic cost of living. The programs are expected to help more than 31,500 New York households or nearly 100,000 people.

Capital Power announced a $2 million contribution to the Build with Boyle initiative to help fund Boyle Street Community Services’ (“Boyle Street”) Okimaw Peyesew Kamik facility in Edmonton.
